Cubicle to Countryside....??

In today’s day and age when things have become so complex, have we ever taken a breather to step back and look at how it all became this way? The answer is simple God invented man, man discovered science and science took over from there and destroyed God…In trying to simplify one’s life we have made it miserably complicated. It's not easy, people work such long days, often starting before sunrise and finishing past sunset. Its definitely a dusk till dawn life for everybody in India.

As humans we have spoiled our selves with silly luxuries and have stopped doing simple tasks that made us get up and move…It all started when some person invented the television remote control…It was all downhill from there. It was like mankind was on a race to see how fast it could get to from being active to pure simple lazy with all kinds of ailments and a shorter life span. I’m not trying to paint a horrid picture here, but facts are facts we need to get up and move around a lot so that we can get the blood flowing and get some fresh air. We used to be active and move around now all we do is staring at a screen like zombies. We need to break free from this monotonous life cycle. Gashhhh...but do we really value such simple things in life..?? Do we hav the time???

Small town/village life I guess is much simpler...Many things are the same as the city, except that most people who live here have chosen to for reasons similar to ours. They are people looking for a slower lifestyle, living a life that honours their community, eating foods that are local and supporting independent businesses. The truly magical part about living in a small town though isn’t the places and things — it’s the people. As time passes you come to realize that this truly is the place where everybody knows your name, or your children’s names. That you will always know what your children are doing. That it’s going to be pretty hard for them to get in too much trouble as they become teenagers because someone will always see them and tell you. During my childhood, I have enjoyed every moment of my stay in my native village for a month during summer vacations with my grandparents. I can't forget the nights of the village, everywhere darkness persisted in the villages in absence of electricity and we have to take our dinners sitting near the "chulha" before 7.30 pm. Twenty years ago, gas cylinders were not available in the villages so women in villages used to prepare all the dishes on chulahs, made up of the mud, and wooden sticks or logs were used to prepare our food. All the females and children have to take their meals in open near these chulhas. After taking dinners, we had to go to bed very early. Whoah it'd be great to sleep under the open sky...I remember I usually fell asleep counting the bright stars in d sky..Television did not make its entry in the villages. Only means of entertainment were either radios or the folk songs sung by all women in the neighborhood after finishing their entire day chores. Occasionally, villages arranged the cultural shows inviting drama parties from outside. My grandma has the habit of telling stories and her memories of old times. I was thrilled to hear the stories of old days. Awww how those memories still haunt me n get me nostalgic ....

If you ask a person living in a village "Where would he like to settle if given a choice to select either rural or an urban life?. The answer in most of the cases will be urban life. If you pose same question to someone already living in urban life, he too will reply the same as by a villager. But me ponders...what can be done to make our mechanical urban lifestyle more worthwhile to live in these glamorous cities..??
